Education
Born in 1986 in Santa Monica, California to Leilani (née Empeno) and Timothy McHugh, she attended Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Cañada Flintridge, California, graduating in 2004.[1] She studied contemporary dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts from 2004-2006. She is of Irish and Filipino ancestry.[2]
Career
She first began to find bit parts in film and television in 2007, with a minor role in I Am Legend, and earned nine more credits over the next six years. In 2014, she portrayed Sloan in the fifth season of the TV series The Vampire Diaries. In 2017, she co-wrote the romantic comedy short film "Ingenue-ish" with fellow actor John Stamos, who also co-starred with her.[3]
McHugh is signed with Wilhelmina Models.[4] In 2016, she appeared in television commercials for Colgate toothpaste and the following year, for the Buick "Encore".
Personal life
McHugh married restaurateur Massimo Lusardi on June 3, 2011.They then separated a few months later and divorced in 2014.[5]
On October 23, 2017, McHugh announced her engagement to actor John Stamos after a year of dating. The couple initially met when they both guest starred on an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2011, but they didn't begin dating until several years later.[6] In December 2017, the couple announced they were expecting their first child, due in the spring of 2018.[7] Stamos and McHugh married in February 2018.[8] On April 15, 2018, Stamos announced the birth of their son, Billy Stamos.[9]
