Cal Jennings

Cal Jennings (born May 17, 1997) is an American soccer player who currently plays for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship.

Career

Youth and college

Jennings played soccer for two seasons at Roswell High School. He spent a season with USSDA side Georgia United prior to attending college.[1]

Jennings played four years of college soccer at the University of Central Florida between 2016 and 2019. During his time at college, Jennings made 64 appearances, scored 46 goals and tallied 16 assists for the Knights. In his senior year, Jennings received accolades such as; All-AAC First Team, AAC Offensive Player of the Year, USC All-East Region First Team, MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, Academic All-America Second Team, and USC All-America First Team.[2]

Professional

On January 9, 2020, Jennings was selected 17th overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas.[3] However, he was released from camp in late February without earning a contract with the team.[4]

Jennings signed his first professional contract with USL Championship side Memphis 901 on July 13, 2020.[5] He made his debut on July 15, 2020, appearing as a 62nd-minute substitute during a 3-0 loss to rivals Birmingham Legion.[6] He scored his first goal for Memphis on July 18, 2020 against Atlanta United 2, netting an injury-time equalizer for a 2-2 draw.[7]

On December 4, 2020, it was announced that Jennings had joined USL Championship side Indy Eleven ahead of their 2021 season.[8]
