Carrie MacEwen
Caroline 'Carrie' MacEwen MB ChB, MD, FRCS, FRCOphth, FFSEM, FCOptom, FRCP (Ed), FRCGP, SFFMLM is a Consultant ophthalmologist at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and the Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (2017–2020) and the former President of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in the UK,[1] (2014-2017). She is honorary Professor and head of the Ophthalmology Department at Dundee University's School of Medicine[2] and Associate Dean for less than full time training in the East of Scotland. She is the Ophthalmology Specialty Adviser to the CMO in Scotland and co-clinical lead for the Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) ophthalmology programme for NHS England. In 2018, Dr Linda Charles-Ozuzu, a Director for NHS England and NHS Improvement, and Professor MacEwen co-founded EyesWise, a project to end avoidable sight loss in England in line with Vision 2020

Carrie was Included in the HSJ “most influential people in the NHS” top 100 (2018) and in ‘The Ophthalmologist’ power list of top 100 ophthalmologists globally (2019).
