Charles C. Eldredge is an American art historian, Emeritus Hall Distinguished Professor at University of Kansas and was Director of the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution from 1982-1988.[1][2]

He oversaw the construction of the Spencer Museum of Art.[3]
