Chhuikhadan State

Chhuikhadan (Also Known as Kondka) was a Small princely state of British India, which later Formed Part of Chhattisgarh States Agency. The State Flag was a Purple Triangle. It was Founded by Mahant Rup Das Bairagi in 1750 A.D. Chhuikhadan State is Ruled by Vaishnav Brahmins.

The King of This Princely State Belonged To Nirmohi Akhara and Nimbarka Sampradaya.

The state consisted of an area of 451 km2 (174 sq mi), of which 27,907 acres (11,294 ha) were cultivated, and 48,538 acres (19,643 ha) were cultivable. There were 120 villages in 1870 and the population was 13,281. In 1941 the state had a population of 32,731 people.[1] The capital of the State was Chhuikhadan.

History

The Rulers of the Princely State of Chhuikhadan is belongs to Bairagi Sect and bore the title of Mahant.

The Chiefs of Chhuikhadan were originally under the Bhonsles of Nagpur, the first Chief being Mahant Rup Das in 1750. However, after defeat of Marathas, they were recognized by British as feudatory chiefs in 1865 conferring the title and sanad to Mahant Laxman Das.[2] Mahant Ritu Purna Kishor Das, the last ruling Chief of Chhuikhadan acceded to the Union of India on 1 February 1948.[3]

Relation With Banda Bairagi

This Princely State was Founded in the year 1750 by a Bairagi Saint named Rup Das. Mahant Rup Das Was From the First Military Headquarters of Veer Banda Bairagi, Sehri Khanda Village in Sonipat District, Haryana. Mahant Rup Das was only 11 years old when the Great Warrior Veer Banda Bairagi formed his Army in Nirmohi Akhara Math of Sehri Khanda in the Year 1709.

This 11-Year-Old Monk Learned Martial Arts From Banda Bairagi and after that he went to Nagpur and joined the Army of Maratha Kings. Mahant Rup Das became a Skilled Warrior and in the Year 1750 the Marathas gave him an Award as Zamindari named Kondka. Mahant Rup Das was a Krishna Devotee, So he used the words Jai Gopal for Mutual Greetings throughout his Princely state.

Bairagi Sadhus Ruled this state till the country's independence on 1 January 1948 the princely state was merged with independent India. The Treaty of Merger was Signed by the last King Mahant Rituparna Kishore Das. Mahant Rituparna Kishore Das was elected to Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha in the General Elections of 1952 and 1957. The Palace of Bairagi kings is still in very good condition.
