Cho Jae-beom
Cho Jae-beom is a former South Korean short track speed skating coach, who was an Olympic coach of the South Korean national team. He was the coach of among others Shim Suk-hee who won two Olympic gold medals. He stopped as the national coach because he was fired.[1]
In 2018 Shim accused her coach of abuse during the Me Too movement; stated that she was already abuses since she was seven. For example, he broke her fingers with a hockey stick. Other skaters also accused the coach. Cho was convicted in 2018 of physically assaulting Shim to ten months of jail.[2] This was extended later to 18 months.[3] In January 2019 Shim accuses him of sexual abuse for years; starting when she was 17 years old. The multiple sexual assaults should have taken place between 2014 and 2017.[4][1] He was sentenced to 10.5 years in January 2021 by the Suwon District Court for a "highly condemnable" act against a juvenile.[1]
