Recording history

Bassist Robin Spurs is credited with playing on two songs. Derri Dougherty, the band's vocalist and guitarist, is credited with playing bass on three songs, while David Miner and Mike Sauerbrey (the band's former bass player) play on one song each. Circle Slide was Spurs's last appearance on an album by the Choir. She joined Rachel Rachel on that group's second album.

Circle Slide marks the first time lyricist Steve Hindalong alludes to or quotes from his previous work. The title track refers to "children of time," the title of a song from Chase the Kangaroo, while "Blue Skies" alludes to both "Happy Fool" and "Robin Had a Dream" from Wide-Eyed Wonder. Hindalong has continued this practice on almost every subsequent release by the Choir.

The album was listed at No. 53 in the book CCM Presents: The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.
