History

Coggles was established in 1974 with the opening of the flagship store in York. Bage states that she named the company "Coggles'"after a woman who was allegedly having an affair with Bage's husband.[1]

When Coggles first opened. it served coffee, played music and sold fashion. Bage's son, Mark Bage,[2] modernised the store[3] and took Coggles online.[4]

In 2013, Coggles entered administration. The stores were liquidated and the online side business sold to the retailer The Hut Group.[5][6]

Coggles.com

The Coggles website launched in 2006 to sell designer men's and women's fashion.[7] Coggles.com is known for its 'LIFE' section,[8] which is a collection of editorial articles covering art, travel, music, food and more. [9]
