Dabangg (film series)

Dabangg is a series of Indian Hindi-language action comedy films produced in common by Arbaaz Khan, starring Salman Khan as the titular cop Chulbul Pandey, Sonakshi Sinha as his love interest Rajjo Pandey, and Arbaaz Khan as Chulbul's step-brother Makhanchand "Makkhi" Pandey.[1] The first film was directed by Abhinav Kashyap and produced by Dhilin Mehta,[2][3][4] the second film was directed by Arbaaz Khan, and the third film was directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Salman Khan and Nikhil Dwivedi.

Chulbul Pandey encounters an enemy from his past, and his origin story as the fearless cop unfolds.

Dabangg 4 (TBA)

Salman Khan has planned the fourth installment even before Dabangg 3 releases on December 20. Salman’s brother, producer Arbaaz Khan, said: “This time you will not have to wait for too long as Dabangg 4 will be made soon.” [5] Salman Khan said: "We have Dabangg 4 written too." He told Mumbai Mirror that "sometimes one films gives an idea for the next" project. He said: "They just come about. Sometimes, one film gives you an idea for the next. In Dabangg 3, we explore why Rajjo's father was an alcoholic and how Chulbul Pandey met her." [6]

Animated series

In May 2020, it was reported that an animated series was in development.[7] The series, also titled Dabangg, is scheduled to premiere on Hotstar in 2021.[8]

Awards

Dabangg received accolades in major film award functions in India. Among them, it won a National Film Award for the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. It was given six awards at the 56th Filmfare Awards, including one for Best Film, seven Screen Awards, nine Zee Cine Awards and ten IIFA Awards.[17]

Dabangg 2 also received several awards.[18][19]
