Daniele Luppi

Daniele Luppi has spent the last decade quietly making his mark on the landscape of popular music. Blending stylistic antiquities with contemporary ideals, his work across mediums is effortlessly stamped with a signature sophistication. A perpetually innovative pop auteur and Emmy nominated Film and Television composer,[1] Luppi has worked with the likes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley and John Legend as well as being the driving force behind a trio of critically acclaimed solo records and projects.

As a film composer Luppi has colored a variety of projects with his dynamic scores, including the Assassination of a High School President starring Bruce Willis, and the award-winning indie film Malos Habitos (Bad Habits). His work is perhaps best recognized in Television, having earned “Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music”[2] Emmy nods for NETFLIX’s Marco Polo and STARZ’s Magic City.

Beyond the scoring stage and in the studio, Luppi has put forward a string of releases celebrating various eras of iconic Italian music. His first album, An Italian Story paid homage to vintage 60s and 70s soundstage compositions and called on both inspirations and actual contributions from iconic members of The Marc 4. Rome, the conceptual and spiritual follow-up to his debut, was heralded as “purely gorgeous” by Pitchfork,[3] seen as a foray into the mainstream and praised for its collaborations with Jack White, Norah Jones, and Danger Mouse. MILANO, Luppi’s most recent full-length effort featuring accompaniment from Karen O and Parquet Courts, is the final volume of his Italian trilogy. Whereas his previous work called on a cinematic era in Italian music, MILANO examined the gritty 1980’s New York no wave and punk scene and its influence on Milanese music, fashion, and high-art, sealing an expansive love letter to his homeland’s famed arts and culture.

In the company of his contemporaries, Luppi has written chart topping arrangements for “The Getaway” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley’s timeless debut “St. Elsewhere", and the celebrated self-titled album from Broken Bells. Luppi has also contributed string arrangements for Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, John Legend’s chart-topping R&B album “Once Again” and legendary Faith No More/Mr. Bungle front man Mike Patton.
