Daren Tang

Daren Tang Heng Shim (born 1972[1]) (Chinese: 邓鸿森[2]) is the fifth and current Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Prior to that, he was Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) from November 2015 to July 2020.[3][4][5] It was taken over by Rena Lee on 1 August 2020.[6]

On 4 March 2020, Tang won the nomination for the post of Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), with the backing of the United States.[3][4][7][8] On 8 May, he was confirmed by the WIPO General Assembly and took office on 1 October 2020.[9]

Tang holds a degree from the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore, and an LL.M from the Georgetown University Law Center.[5]
