David Hilton (auto designer)
David Hilton is an American automobile designer currently based in China.
Hilton was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. From 1991 until 2000, he was a designer and chief designer for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, England, Brazil, Japan and Germany. His most notable automotive contributions include the Ford Focus RS,[1] Ford S-MAX (2007 Car of the Year),[2] and Ford F-150. From 2000 to 2011[3][4][5] he ran the successful design firm Motorcity Europe,[6] where he created the design of the MCE MC1[7] as well as the Infiniti Emerg-e concept car. In the period 2012–2013 he was Head of Exterior Design for Bentley Motors in England,[8][9][10][11] being responsible for the Bentley GT3,[12] and the Bentley SUV Production Bentayga vehicle. In May 2015 he was hired as the Senior Design Director at NIO or previously NEXTEV, where he was Chief Designer of the NIO EP9 supercar.[13][14] From November 2018, David Hilton was hired as the Design Strategy Director at GAC R&D.[15] Hilton is also known for his automotive artwork and lecturing activities.[16][17][18]
In addition to his excellence in the automotive field, he also is a master of martial arts since childhood.
