David Morales (politician)

David Morales (born September 16, 1998) is an American politician and activist who is the state representative in the Rhode Island House of Representatives for the 7th district.[2] A member of the Democratic Party, Morales primaried incumbent state representative Daniel P. McKiernan with support from the Democratic Socialists of America and other progressive groups.[3] Morales was inspired to enter politics due to the two presidential campaigns of Vermont senator Bernie Sanders.[2] Morales is currently the youngest member of the Rhode Island House.[4]

Political positions

Morales is a supporter of the Green New Deal, and is an advocate of reforming the Rhode Island tax code to allow local areas to tax "wealthy nonprofit institutions", such as Brown University.[2]
