Denmark was represented by Malene Mortensen with the song "Tell Me Who You Are" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn, Estonia.

Before Eurovision

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2002

Denmark used the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2002 contest to select their entrant to the Eurovision Song Contest 2002. The final took place at the Cirkusbygningen in Copenhagen on 9 February 2002 and was hosted by Michael Carøe and Signe Svendsen. The winner was selected by the votes of 4 televoting regions, SMS voting and an expert jury in two rounds. In the first round, the top five entries were selected to proceed to the second round. In the second round, the winner, "Vis mig hvem du er" performed by Malene Mortensen, was selected by the public and jury vote.[1]

The expert jury included Keld Heick (composer of several Danish Eurovision entries), Gry Johansen (Denmark 1983), Kaare Norge, Sascha Dupont, Carsten Michael Laursen, Sanne Gottlieb (Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2000 and 2001) and Jesper Degn.

At Eurovision

Mortensen performed 14th on the night of the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, following Finland and preceding Bosnia and Herzegovina. For Eurovision, "Vis mig hvem du er" was performed in English as "Tell Me Who You Are". Despite being one of the favourites to win, it only managed to receive 7 points coming last of 24 countries, forcing Denmark to skip the 2003 contest.
