Diego Moreno

Diego Rafael Moreno (born July 21, 1987) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Generales de Durango of the Mexican League. He previously played for the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Career

Pittsburgh Pirates

Moreno signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in 2006.

New York Yankees

He was traded by the Pirates along with Exicardo Cayones to the New York Yankees for A. J. Burnett on February 19, 2012.[1]

Moreno was called up to the majors for the first time on June 22, 2015. He made his major league debut that night.

Moreno was recalled by the Yankees on July 28. He pitched that night against the Texas Rangers, going 5 13 scoreless innings, while allowing no hits, one walk, and five strikeouts, en route to getting his first career win. On August 19, 2016, the Yankees released Moreno.

Tampa Bay Rays

In December 2016, Moreno signed a minor league deal with the Tampa Bay Rays.[2] He was designated for assignment on July 27, 2017.

Cleveland Indians

Moreno was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Indians on July 29, 2017.[3] The Indians designated Moreno for assignment on August 26, 2017.

Hanshin Tigers

On November 11, 2017, Moreno signed with the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He became a free agent following the 2018 season.

Generales de Durango

On June 10, 2019, Moreno signed with the Generales de Durango of the Mexican League.
