The larvae feed on aphids. Young larvae are grayish white but later turn greenish with silvery lining on the dorsal side of the body. The body is covered with prominent white hairs. The larval period lasts for 20–26 days and pupation takes place inside a straw-colored silken cocoon. The pupa is cylindrical and reddish.
