Donna Ida

Donna Ida is a London-based denim fashion brand created in 2012 by founder and namesake Donna Ida Thornton, the "Jean Queen". The core DONNA IDA collection comprises high-waisted jeans plus an elegant selection of silk blouses, cashmere jumpers and simple tees. Jeans styles include, Ivy the High Top Skinny, Rizzo the High Top Ankle Skinny and Jeanie the High Top Cigarette Leg. In 2015 DONNA IDA introduced directional denim shapes into the collection with Sadie the Boiler Suit.

Born and raised in Sydney Australia, Donna moved to the UK in 1999 for a career in marketing but by October 2006 had opened the doors to the first Donna Ida boutique on Draycott Avenue in the fashionable Chelsea area. A second boutique on Elizabeth Street in Belgravia opened in 2010. The DONNA IDA collections grew beautifully to fill the boutiques until it was time to change the model to fit the modern world. In 2016, the DONNA IDA boutiques closed to focus on the online business donnaida.com and pop-up concept which takes the brand to all corners of the globe.

This new era saw a shift and a re-focus on the denim that DONNA IDA is famous for. Launching new iconic jumpsuits, boilersuits and all-in-ones that customers love including the Cassandra the Flared Jumpsuit and Dolly the Flightsuit. Although silk blouses and cashmere pieces are no longer the focus, Donna designs special pieces including The Hustle Coat, The Greatest Cape and the Most Faithful Poncho.

Fans of DONNA IDA include ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Millie Mackintosh.[1]

The DONNA IDA boutiques were nominated 3 times for Best Womenswear Boutique in the Drapers Awards, as well as listed in the top 50 best boutiques in Britain by The Telegraph.[2]

Donna Ida Thornton is a Patron of Jeans for Genes and raises at least £20,000 for them each year[3] Ida was also short listed for the WGSN Global Fashion Awards for Breakthrough Brand or Retailer 2011.[4]
