It was released on 23 June 1999 by Sony Music Greece. The album achieved gold status in Greece within a month of its release and eventually received platinum certification,[1] selling over 60,000 units.[2] Six of the fourteen tracks were composed by Giorgos Theofanous, while other notable composers on the album are Antonis Vardis and Christos Nikolopoulos.[3] Two of the tracks are covers: the first, "Agkires" is based on song "Iste Hendek, Iste Deve" and the second is "Zilia" is based on Amr Diab's song "Kalast Feek Kol Alkalam". Two of the tracks feature well known Greek artists as second vocalists: Antonis Remos in the zeibekiko "Anisos Agonas" and Paschalis Terzis in the zeibekiko "Sta Deka Metra".

Release

It was available in two versions: one, the standard 13-track edition, and two, an unmarked special edition including a fourteenth track "Hasame Tin Agapi Mas" penned by Giorgos Theofanous and Evi Droutsa.[3] Both releases included the music video of the title track "Doro Theou", due to the video's release prior to the release of the album.

"Doro Theou" is often considered a dedication to Garbi's son because it was released during her pregnancy, however the album's insert clarifies that the dedication belongs to her husband, Dionisis Schinas, with the lyrics of the title track describing the real-life story the couple. A translation of the insert reads "Dionisis, this "Doro Theou" is devoted to you, because you know how to make every day of our common life special".[4] Although, it is considered as one of Garbi's best albums, it wasn't widely promoted due to Garbi's pregnancy.

Singles and Music videos

Three singles were released from the album, with each having a music video directed by Giorgos Gkavalos. The songs "Anisos Agonas", "Pos Fovamai Na Sou Po", "Fleva" and "Zilia", despite not having been released as singles, gained a lot of radio airplay.

"Doro Theou"

The title track "Doro Theou" (music: Giorgos Theofanous, lyrics: Gioula Georgiou) was released as the lead single on 23 June 1999 to coincide with the release of the album. Filming took place in advance of the album's release with the album cover art being shot at the same time. Due to her pregnancy, Garbi's body is not visible for the duration of the video.

"Agkires"

The follow-up single "Agkires" (music: Savvas Angin, lyrics: Eleni Giannatsoulia) is a cover of the 1971 Turkish song "Iste hendek, iste deve" and was released on 26 August 1999. It was filmed on a Greek island and depicts a traditional Greek Summer. Similar to the first single, Garbi's body was hidden.

"Aponomi Dikaiosinis"

The third and final single from the album "Aponomi Dikaiosinis" (music: Giorgos Theofanous, lyrics: Gioula Georgiou) was released on 29 October 1999. It's the only music video from the album to show Garbi's body.
