Dzivarasekwa

Dzivarasekwa is a predominantly working-class suburb of western Harare, Zimbabwe. It is represented as the constituency of Dzivarasekwa. Also known as "DZ" or "Dangerzone side". Dzivaresekwa is known as the cultural Hub of Harare.

Dzivarasekwa consists of Dzivarasekwa 1, 2, 3, 4 and Dzivarasekwa extension.

This suburb was known as Gillingham during the Rhodesian era.

The name Dzivarasekwa came after the death Chief Mbari's son who died in a pool around that area . In shona pool is called Dziva so people started referring the area as ku Dziva (rakafira ) Sekwa hence Dzivarasekwa .

Some of the Luminaries from Dzivarasekwa include Tendai Biti, Bronson Gengezha, Somandla Mafia Ndebele, Sherpad Chinyani and Peter Zulu.
