Eastern striolated puffbird

The eastern striolated puffbird (Nystalus striolatus) is a species of puffbird in the Bucconidae family. It was previously considered conspecific with the western striolated puffbird (Nystalus obamai).[2][3]

It is found in Amazonian Brazil and Bolivia.[4]Its natural habitat is subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests.

Subspecies

There are two recognized subspecies:

  • Nystalus striolatus striolatus - found in south central Amazonia, in Brazil between the Madeira and Tapajós rivers, and in northeastern Bolivia (Santa Cruz).
  • Nystalus striolatus torridus - found in eastern Amazonian Brazil, south of the Amazon and east of the Tapajós River.[5]
