Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha

Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha (Urdu: احسان الحق پراچہ) was a Pakistani politician.[1] He was from the town of Bhera in Sargodha District, Punjab, Pakistan. His father khan Sahib khan Bahadur Fazal haq piracha elected member centeral assambly of india in 1930 to 1934 and again 1934 to 1946.Elected memer of united punjab assambly in1946.After partition he elected member punjab assambly from1947 to 1951.He remained chaiman muncipal commite Bhera from 1924 to 1968.Elected chairman zila council sargodha in 1956.Elected member divisional council of Rawalpindi Division.Fazal haq pirachas elder brother khan Bahadur Fazal ilahi piracha elected member punjab assambly and one unit asambly from 1951 to 1958 and ramained minister.Fazal Elahi piracha elected member senate of pakistan from1973 to 1976.

Ehsan ul haq pirachas son Haroon ehsan piracha elected member national assambly in 2005.His brother Anwar ul haq piracha nominated member wafaqi majlasay shura(equal to member national assambly)in 1981 to 1985. Elected member punjab assambly in 1985 and 1990 his other brother Inam ul haq piracha Elected member national assambly in 2002 and disrict nazim sargodha in 2005.

Ehsan ul haq piracha died in Islamabad on 1 February 2019.[2]

Education

Ehsanul Haq Piracha, after having his early education at the local institutions was admitted to Government College, Lahore wherefrom he earned BA in Arts in 1952. He opted for education of Law and Jurisprudence and got LLB degree from the Punjab University's Law College Lahore in 1954.

Politics

Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha was elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in 1970 and again in 1977. He served as Minister for Communication and Works in the Punjab Cabinet till the imposition of Martial Law in July 1977.

After the restoration of the democracy in the country Mr. Ihsanul Haq Piracha was elected as a member of the Senate against a technocrat seat from Punjab in 1985 and continued to be a Senator till 1988. He appointed provincial minister in 1988 care taker government.

He was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1988 and again in 1990. He held the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, Planning and Development as a Minister of State in the Federal Cabinet from 1988 to 1990.He appointed federal minister for commerce in 1993 care taker government.

Ehsan-ul-Haq Piracha was elected as a member of the Senate of Pakistan in March 1994 for a six-year term. He was a member of the Senate Standing Committees on Commerce, Communication and Railways and on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs and Statistics and he was also a member of the Functional Committee of the Senate on Government Assurances.
