Electoral (Revision of Constituencies) Act 1935
The Electoral (Revision of Constituencies) Act 1935 (No. 5/1935) was a law in Ireland which provided for parliamentary constituencies which would be used at the 1937, 1938, 1943 and 1944 general elections.[1] The 9th Dáil was elected at the 1937 general election on 1 July 1937.
This Act replaced the definition of constituencies in the Electoral Act 1923, which defined the constituencies used for the 4th Dáil (1923–27), 5th Dáil (1927), 6th Dáil (1927–32), 7th Dáil (1932–33) and 8th Dáil (1933–37). It also reduced the number of seats in the Dáil by 15 from 153 to 138.
The constituencies were revised again by the Electoral (Amendment) Act 1947, which created a new scheme of constituencies for the 13th Dáil (elected in 1948).
