Elinor Purrier
Elinor Purrier (born February 20, 1995) is an American track and field athlete who specializes in middle-distance running and long-distance running.[1] She represented the United States at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, competing in women's 5000 metres.[2] On February 8, 2020 she set the American Record for an Indoor Mile with a time of 4:16.85 at the Millrose Games.

Professional
Purrier signed with New Balance in July 2018.[3] In 2019, she qualified for the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in Doha, where she qualified for the 5,000m final and finished 15th. On 8 February 2020, she set a new United States indoor mile record at the Millrose Games. [4]
NCAA
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, at the 2018 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in late June she finished sixth in the 1500 meters, running 4:09.30. She also won the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the women's mile. At the University of New Hampshire, she was an NCAA Division I 11-time All-American and studied nutrition.[5]
Prep
Purrier grew up milking thirty dairy cows each morning before school.[6]
Purrier attended Richford High School as a sixteen-time Vermont Principals' Association state Division III champion.[7][8] She won the 2012 Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) Northeast Regional championships on the Bowdoin County Park course in Wappingers Falls, New York.[9]
