Elmar Saar

Elmar Saar (19 February 1908 in Tallinn, Estonia – 19 December 1981) was a Estonian footballer as defender, coach and Soviet international football referee.[1][2]

Player career

Elmar Saar played as defender for some Estonian football clubs such as Tallinna JK, JK Tallinna Kalev, SK Tallinna Sport, JS Estonia Tallinn. He played 18 matches for Estonia in 1928-36 and he was captain of Estonia in 1934 friendly match against Lithuania (1:1).[3]

Manager career

Elmar Saar managed Estonia national team in 1939 for 4 friendly matches which a draw and three lost. After the national team he was manager of Estonian Tallinna JK Dünamo in 1945–47.[4]

Referee career

After managerial career he became referee and was member of FIFA in 1958–59. Elmar Saar officiated two international friendly matches in 1958–59.[5]
