History
Founded in 1980, the club have not participated in the Georgian top flight. After several years in Liga 2, in 2016 Samegrelo were relegated to Meore Liga where they spent three seasons.
In 2018 the club quit the third division despite being 11th among 20 league clubs[1] and since then takes part in Liga 4.
In 2020 Samegrelo finished at the bottom and avoided a further relegation only after the league was subjected to the reorganization which included the increase of teams from 16 to twenty.[2]
