Federal Directorate of Education
Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), (Urdu: وفاقی نظامتِ تعلیم)Islamabad was established as an attached department of Ministry of Education in 1967 for providing educational facilities at various levels in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). It had been working under the administrative control of CA&DD. Now FDE has been working under M/o Federal Education & Professional Training (www.mofept.gov.pk)) in the light of recent development.

Mission:
Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) endeavors to provide conducive environment for teaching and learning with focus on academic excellence, surging desire for knowledge, attitudinal change inculcating tolerance, unity, faith, discipline and compassion, developing a sense of purpose and high achievement with the vision for tomorrow.
Functions:
•Administration and Management of 423 Federal Government educational in ICT, providing educational services to about 220,851 students from prep to post-graduate level.
•Human resource management of 9663 teaching and 4423 non -teaching staff/posts
• Recruitment, transfer/posting
•In-service training /capacity building
•Supervision & promotion of academic and co-curricular activities.
•Monitoring and evaluation of administrative and academic services
•Planning & Development of new schemes / educational institutions
•Financial management & audit of educational institutions.
•Provision of infrastructure (building, furniture& fixture).
