Field hockey at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place from 11 to 23 October at the Komazawa Hockey Field. 15 teams played in the field hockey competition.[1]

India won its seventh gold medal by defeating the defending champions Pakistan 1–0 in the gold medal match. Australia won its first medal by defeating Spain 3–2 after extra time in the bronze medal match.
