Overview
BigYawn.net comment on the song in their review of A Brighter Beat:
In the verses, the music has a bouncy, whimsical feel, but when you reach the chorus and he utters the line "Fuck it, I love you/There you go/Three little words on a mobile phone," both the music and the vocals turn much more plaintive as he says "When are you comin’ home?/Don't want to be alone" You have to wonder what the answer is because the music turns darker and heavier in the bridge before returning to the original, lighter sound, which is finally explained in the third verse when he says "I'm pretending that everything's OK," but it's clear that he's barely holding things together.[1]
