Gary Hershberger

Gary Hershberger (born April 5, 1964) is an American actor, screenwriter, educator, and producer best known for his role as Mike Nelson in the television series Twin Peaks and the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (and Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces).[1][2][3][4][5]

Career

Acting

He is probably best known for Twin Peaks and guest-starring roles on other TV show, but has been in numerous feature films, TV movies, and series. He has been in movies like Sneakers and Faith, Hope & Love, the IMAX documentary Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D, and major TV shows, including: Grey's Anatomy, The West Wing, Murder, She Wrote, Columbo, The OC, JAG, Knight Rider, and Highway to Heaven.[6][7]

Screenwriting

He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, SAG-AFTRA, and the Actors' Equity Association.

He is an award-winning screenwriter, having been a finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenplay Contest (2012). His other screenwriting awards include a PAGE International Screenwriting Award, a PAGE Top Ten Finalist for Best Television Drama, and he won third place for the PAGE Best Television Comedy. [8][9]

The Actor's Director Workshop and teaching

He and his Twin Peaks co-star Sheryl Lee co-founded The Actor's Director Workshop. They have taught at USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, and LMU.[10][11]

Production

His production company is called Deer Mountain Productions.[12][13]

Personal life

He was born in Inglewood, California and attended UCLA. He is married with four children.[14]
