The 2011 World Cup was the second to be broadcast by Geo Super. However Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) terminated its contract for hosting the world cup. After taking the case to the Supreme Court, Geo was re-awarded the sole and exclusive rights to host the tournament.[2] Geo also announced that they had hired former Pakistan captain Imran Khan as a commentator.[3]
Geo Super taken off-air
On 7 April 2011, Geo Super was banned from broadcasting in Pakistan by PEMRA due to the disputes relating to broadcast from another country.[4] But after two months broadcasting ban was uplifted.
