Geoff Herbach

Geoff Herbach is an American novelist.[1] Born in Dubuque, Iowa on October 30, 1969,[1][2] Herbach grew up in Platteville, Wisconsin.[3] He is an alumnus of Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota,[4] where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing.[2] He is the author of several novels, including The Miracle Letters of T. Rimberg, Stupid Fast, and a sequel to Stupid Fast titled Nothing Special.[1][5][6] Stupid Fast won the 2011 Cybils Award in the Young Adult Fiction category.[7][1] Nothing Special won the 2013 Minnesota Book Award for Young People's literature.[8]

Herbach has written scripts for Electric Arc Radio, Radio Happy Hour, Powderkeg Live, and The Lit 6 Project.[5][9] He co-wrote the musical "Don’t Crush Our Heart" and has been a reader on Talking Image Connection.[10] A former teacher at Anoka-Ramsey Community College,[11] Herbach has published stories in Workers Write!, Bathtub Gin, American Nerd and other journals, and has read work on Minnesota Public Radio.[9][12]

Herbach resides in Mankato, Minnesota, where he teaches creative writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato.[13][14] He is married to writer Stephanie Wilbur Ash and has two children.[9][14][15]
