Girekol

Girekol is a 2,145-metre-high (7,037 ft) volcano in Turkey. It is an alkaline shield volcano and the youngest activity goes back to 0.36 +/- 0.06 Ma.[1] The volcano's eruption products are plagiophyric trachybasaltic lavas and is among the youngest eruption activities on the northern coast of Lake Van and overlie in part older volcanic products.[2] The volcano is part of a volcanic province together with neighbouring Meydandag and Etrüsk volcanoes that is associated with a regional geological structure named "Lake Van dome".[3]
