Synopsis

Mukti Debi, a staunch Vaishnavite, lives in an old-world mansion named Gobinda Dham while her son, Anirban, lives overseas. Tareq Ali is a former convict who is now trying to redeem himself and restart his life. He is employed by Mukti Debi as the caretaker of her estate. What follows is a tale of how a mother-son relationship begins to build between Mukti Debi and Tareq, while the former is unaware of his Muslim identity, depicting underlying social issues of the era.[3] There is also a scene where a local promoter(portrayed by Kharaj Mukherjee) with political connections refuses to eat the bhoga of the Janmastami festival organised in the house, served by Tarekh on the grounds that it was a taboo for a Hindu to allow a non-Hindu(in this case Tarekh) to serve the bhoga(food offerred to a Hindu deity) to the guests & sinful on the part of the Hindu to eat that food served by a non-Hindu to which Mukti Debi reprimanded him, saying that he didn't objected to eating biryani cooked by Muslim chefs in restaurants & yet objected to eat food served by Muslims.
