Gwent Broadcasting

Gwent Broadcasting (also known on air as GB Radio) was an Independent Local Radio station that broadcast to the Newport, South Wales between June 1983 and February 1985. The station closed down due to financial difficulties.[1] After a short period as a relay of nearby CBC, the two stations formally merged to become Red Dragon Radio.[2] The station is "re-born" by creator Sean Rafferty see Gwent radio as a non profit community radio station with the idea of promoting Gwent to the local listeners. The station plays oldies from the 1950s to 2000s keeping in the tradition of the old station.

The station was the first in the UK to transmit in the 102.2 to 104.5Mhz part of the VHF/FM waveband.[3]
