He was named in the Indian squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics.[1][2]Harmanpreet Singh was the member of Junior Hockey World Cup 2016 champions squad. He was born on 6 January 1996 in the outskirts of Amritsar. Since childhood, he had a keen interest in hockey. He has claimed that his work on the field has contributed to his ability to play the game brilliantly. When he was 15-years old, he joined Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar with the hopes of becoming a forward. However, his fate had decided something else. Team India got its talented defender when he debuted in Sultan Johar Cup in Malaysia in 2014 which brought limelight to capabilities. [3]
