Henk Paanen

Henk Paanen (4 September 1917 – 1 August 2020) was a Dutch person establishing one main Dutch judo association: Judo Bond Nederland.

Paanen was born in Amsterdam. In 1951, he became a member of the predecessor of the Dutch judo association the “Nederlandsche Jiu Jitsu Bond” (NJJB), nowadays called the Judo Bond Nederland. In the 1960s, he managed to create one main judo association.[1] For his works, he became member of merits in 1966. He continued working for the judo association and also became a referee. In 2007, he became a member of honor of the Dutch Judo Association. In 2017, he received a promotion of honor.[2][3]

Paanen died on 1 August 2020, aged 102.[1]
