Huanipaca District

Huanipaca District is one of the nine districts of the Abancay Province in Peru.[1]

Geography

One of the highest peaks of the district is Ampay at 5,236 m (17,178 ft) located in the Ampay National Sanctuary. Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (77.81%) learnt to speak in childhood, 21.41% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
