Huawei G8

The Huawei G8 (G7 Plus in some markets[1][2]) is an upper-mid Android smartphone, which designed and produced by Huawei. It was released on 2 September 2015.[3]

Specifications

Hardware

The G8 uses an all-metal chassis, and a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, with Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels) and 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass. It also included a fingerprint sensor on the back side of the smartphone, which comes with Huawei's Fingerprint Sense 2.0 technology. According to Huawei, it required 0.5 seconds to identify a user, and the sensitive data will be secured with the Qualcomm Q SEE safety program.[3][4][5]

It equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, which boasts eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of which are clocked at 1.5 GHz, while the other at 1.2 GHz.[3][4][6] The G8 also integrates the Adreno 405 GPU and has 3GB of RAM. The G8 included 3,000 mAh battery, which provides long battery life and despite the powerful hardware.[6]

It supports GSM, UMTS, LTE-TDD, LTE-FDD networks.[7] For Chinese edition, it also supports TD-SCDMA network.[8] The G8 supports Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and dual-SIM.[3][9]

The G8's rear camera is 13 megapixels, with double LED flash. It also equipped with Sony’s IMX278 sensor and features the OIS technology as well as f/2.0 aperture, which helps user capture better photos in low light conditions. The camera also provides ISP Foodie mode. The smartphone is equipped front camera with 5 megapixels, and also provides makeup mode.[6][10]

The G8 comes in three colors: Golden, Gray, Silver. It equipped with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and microSD support up to 128GB.[7] The Chinese edition's RAM and ROM is lower than the global edition, which is 2GB and 16GB.[8]

Software

The G8 is preloaded with Android 5.1 "Lollipop" and Emotion UI (EMUI) 3.1 with some features. The EMUI 3.1's default lockscreen features a "sunshine" effect.[11]

Release

The G8 is started to sale worldwide, and the first-wave launch markets are China, Egypt, Germany, Malaysia, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. The G8 is priced at €399.[4]

Reception

GSMArena''s reviewed "the Huawei G8 puts a lot of emphasis on style and definitely excels in this department. It is built to high standards and its stylish exterior and premium feel will get it quite a lot of attention. Well-equipped as well, it is sure to please the majority of Android users, who value quality exterior and rich functionality."[12] Recombu also reviewed "the Huawei G8 still packs of lot of the same premium features for considerably less money."[13]
