I Can See Your Voice (Chinese game show)

I Can See Your Voice (Chinese: 看见你的声音; pinyin: Kàn jiàn nǐ de shēng yīn) is a television mystery music game show broadcast by JSTV. It is a Chinese adaptation of the South Korean program of the same name.[1]

Gameplay

Format

A guest artist is presented with a group of seven "mystery singers". Some of the them are bad singers, and some are good. The artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group by guessing who they are without hearing them sing. They get assistance from clues and "celebrity panelists" over the course of three rounds. The guest artist will eliminate one to two singers at the end of each round and then proceed to perform on the "stage of truth". At the end, the winning mystery singer is revealed as good or bad by means of a duet with one of the guest artists.[2]

Rounds

There are six or seven individuals of mystery singers standing on the platform with its aliases to keep their identities concealed until stage of truth performance.

Round 1: Singer's visual

The guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. After this, a muted video of each mystery singer that reveals only 0.3 seconds of their singing voice is played as an additional hint.

Round 2: Singer's lip-sync

Each mystery singer performs a lip-sync to a song. Good singers are miming to own voices while bad singers are miming to other's voices.

Round 3: Singer's evidence

A proof of each mystery singer's singing ability (i.e. photo, video, certificates, etc.) is shown on the screen. Good singers have their own evidences while bad singers had their evidences fabricated.

Production

Mnet and Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation was first announced the development of the series in June 2015.[3] It is produced by Eslite Media, Hua Chuan Culture, and Inly Media Company. The show's staff is commissioned by director Zhou Hailiang; joined by executive producer Jun Quanyi.[4]

Reception

In August 2015, CJ ENM accused two Chinese programs, God of Songs by SZTV and X-Singer by Beijing TV of plagiarism, which imitates its gameplay similar to ICSYV, therefore they were both unlicensed Chinese counterparts. Despite this, God of Songs became successful due to high ratings and even trending on social media.[38][39]
