Ignacio Giampaoli

Ignacio Giampaoli (born February 19, 1992) is an Argentine-Italian professional footballer who is currently playing as a midfielder for Aris Archangelos FC in the Gamma Ethniki league from Greece.

Previously, in the 2019–2020 season he played for Hamilton Wanderers AFC (New Zealand) club in the ISPS Handa Premiership league, being coached at the moment by Ricki Herbert, who leads New Zealand National Team to qualify to 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Soccer career

Youth career and college

He has started his football career at the very young age of 11 in CEF 18, from his natal province Tucuman and played his child career there until the age of 16, when he sign for San Martín de Tucumán as a midfielder. i After spending some very good years in the youth divisions of San Martín de Tucumán, Ignacio Giampaoli was scouted to train with A.F.C. Bournemouth under 21s squad.

In the year 2011 as a student of Universidad del Norte Santo Tomás de Aquino, he was chosen to play for his college football team that plays in CODUCA league every year.

Professional

In the year 2014, he signed a professional deal with Deportivo Iztapa side that plays in the first division from Guatemala

That same year, Ignacio Giampaoli was the winner of the Gatorade G-Camp Argentina 2014 and after training in Casa Amarilla he had been awarded with the opportunity to play for IMG Academy from United States.[3]

His experience playing in Guatemala and the US side IMG Academy attract the interest of the Romanian club FC Academica Clinceni, which signed him[4] for a one-year deal on July 1st, 2015. They immediately added him to the squad to play in the Liga II (2nd tier league from Romania). Unfortunately, during his time at FC Academica Clinceni he suffered one of the worst ankle injuries of his career, reason why he had to stay out of the pitch for 6 months.

Not a very successful season (2015-2016) in Romania would led him to spend some time at Panachaiki F.C. and FC Písek[5]

On December 2016, he assisted to LA Galaxy II open tryouts where he earned the opportunity to be invited to the preseason and then sign a 6 months contract to stay until the winter in California.

On July 1st 2017 (Australian mid-season transfer window), Ignacio Giampaoli has been transferred as a free player to Weston Workers Bears FC[6]

After he finished his season at Weston Workers Bears FC he came back to the United States to play for FC Golden State Force in USL League Two which is also known as PDL (Premier Development League, 4rd tier league in USA). The team became champions of the USL PDL Southwest Division and he had the chance to play the prestigious 2018 U.S. Open Cup. Such a great and successful year, led him to sign for Devonport City FC to play again in Australia, on the next year season (2019), this time in Tasmania National Premier Leagues.[7]

National Team

At the year 2009, in 2009–2010 season, he has been called to represent Argentina u17 National Team in the World Cup Qualifying stages by the head coach Jose Luis Brown (El Tata). After playing a game against Venezuela u17 National Team in the Sudamerican U17 Tournament, he After playing against Venezuela, he had suffered an injury that would put him out of the fields, taking away the possibility to be called back again to participate in the U17 World Cup.

Gatorade G-Camp 2014 Winner

In the year 2014, Ignacio Giampaoli was one of the 3 the winners of the Gatorade G-Camp, chosen by the Gatorade G-Camp 2014 staff (Juan Pablo Varsky, Víctor Hugo Marchesini, Diego Placente, Horacio Elizondo). The winners were invited to be part of the IMG Academy Bradenton team, which plays in the 2014 PDL season from United States of America.[8]

Los Angeles Galaxy – Preseason Training Camp

On December 2016, after a 2-day open tryout with Los Angeles Galaxy,[9] the coaching staff, decided to invite Ignacio Giampaoli to an extended period of trials, by adding him to the LA Galaxy II 1st team squad in preseason. There, he stayed until the next summer.

After playing for LA Galaxy II, he caught the attention of the Australian club Weston Workers Bears FC.[10] He signed for the team in the 2017 midseason transfer window and started 4 of 5 games that season.
