Indri Hapsari Suharto

Indri Hapsari Soeharto (Indonesian: [su'hãr'to]; born November 20, 1960) is an Indonesian actress,[2][3] psychiatrist,[1] Pasindhèn singer, fashion model and a beauty pageant titleholder who won the title of Puteri Duta Indonesia 1977 (Miss International Indonesia 1977).[4][5][6] She represented Indonesia at the Miss International 1977 pageant in Japan, where she placed as the 2nd Runner-up, she became the second Indonesian to be called as Miss International Finalists after Treesye Ratri Nugraheni Astuti who placed for the first time in Miss International 1976.[7][8][9][10]

Early life and education

Indri was born in JakartaIndonesia, she holds a master degree in Clinical Child Psychology and Psychiatry from University of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia.[1] and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) from Division of Human Communication Sciences, Health Sciences School of the University of Sheffield in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.[1]

Puteri Duta Indonesia 1977

In 1977, Indri competed in the national pageant of Puteri Duta Indonesia 1977, and ended up winning the title to represent Indonesia in Miss International 1977.[4][10] She is being the last Puteri Duta Indonesia that competed in Miss International beauty pageant,[5] before Indonesia inactive from 1978 until 2007 represented by Rahma Landy Sjahruddin from Puteri Indonesia organization.[11][12][13]

Indri was crowned by the outgoing titleholder of Puteri Duta Indonesia 1976 and Miss International Indonesia 1976, Treesye Ratri Nugraheni Astuti of Central Java at the end of the event, held at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta.[6][4]

Miss International 1977

As Puteri Duta Indonesia 1977, Indri represented Indonesia at the the 17th edition of Miss International pageant.[7][8][9] The finale was held on July 1, 1977 at the Imperial Garden Theater in Tokyo, Japan, where Indri was won the 2nd Runner-up position.[7][8][9][10] Sophie Perin of France crowned her successor Pilar Medina of Spain by the end of the event.[9]

Indri 2nd Runner-up finish at Miss International 1977 and Linda Emran Abiprajadi winning at Miss Asia Pacific International 1977 was completing Indonesia's achievement in beauty pageant history.[8][10] 39 years later, Felicia Hwang Yi Xin repeating Indri achievement by finishing as the 2nd Runner-up in the respective Miss International 2016 beauty pageant.[14][15]

Filmography

After returning to Indonesia, a year later Indri received an offer to play in a film directed by Umar Kayam entitled "Bulu-Bulu Cendrawasih".[2][3] Indri is quite proud of herself because at a very young age, Indri has the opportunity to acting with a number of famous actors and actresses such as Rima Melati, Jajang C. Noer, Titi Qadarsih, Rahadian Yamin, and Rina Hasyim.[2][3] This film tells the story of an immigrant child who looks for his fortune to become a model. Since then, Indri has appeared in several film and television films in Indonesia.[2][3]
