International Railway Journal

The International Railway Journal (ISSN 0744-5326), also known as IRJ, is a monthly international trade magazine published by Simmons-Boardman Publishing Corporation (Falmouth, Cornwall, United Kingdom).[1] The magazine was first published in 1961[1] as the world's first globally distributed magazine for the railway industry.[2] The current editor is Kevin Smith, who took over from David Briginshaw in February 2020.[3] In addition to Smith, the magazine has three other members of its editorial team: Briginshaw, who now occupies a role as Consulting Editor; David Burroughs; and Oliver Cuenca. In addition, the magazine publishes work by a number of contributors from various parts of the world.

Content

The magazine covers a range of rail-related content, covering sectors including passenger, freight, high-speed, metro and light rail. Regular subject matters include financial news, fleet orders, infrastructure, new technologies and government policy.

Circulation and Distribution

IRJ publishes regular content on its website, and also publishes a monthly print edition, distributed through controlled circulation. IRJ's print edition had a circulation of 10,641 copies in 2019, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC).[4]
