Jaelan Phillips
Jaelan Everett Phillips (born May 28, 1999) is an American football defensive end college football player for the Miami Hurricanes.

High school career
Phillips started playing football at the age of 7, he attended Redlands East Valley High School. Phillips began playing as a sophomore and went from an unrecruited player to one of the most sought after recruits in the nation. For his highschool career, Phillips recorded 264 tackles, 31.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 interception.[1][2]
Recruiting
As the class of 2017's top rated recruit, Phillips ended up with 20 scholarship offers from some of the nation's most elite programs, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines and USC Trojans. Phillips committed to the UCLA Bruins on April 14, 2016.[3]

College career
UCLA
Phillips enrolled early at UCLA and took part in 2017 spring practice.
As a true freshman in 2017, Phillips played in seven games, tallying 21 tackles (seven for loss), two pass deflections and 3.5 sacks.[4]
As a sophomore in 2018, Phillips played in four games, before a concussion ended his season. On December 15, 2018, Phillips medically retired from football, after two injury-plagued seasons.[5]
