John D'Silva has directed and worked in many tiatrs and Konkani movies (both short and feature). When he made his debut on the Konkani stage, he was doing serious roles and other characters with negative shades, but in the year 1999, when he was not having a comedian in his troupe, he switched to the main comedy role in his Tiatr "Umannem", which was a huge hit. Thereafter, he did a lot of comic tiatrs. Today, he is regarded among the top Konkani comedians and one of the best writers the Konkani stage can offer.
He is the first one to have released his 25th tiatr "Nattok" in London & Germany and thereafter to have staged it throughout Goa. He has also acted in Konkani movies Nachom-ia Kumpasar, Nirmon (2015) and O Maria.,[2] O La La (2018)[3]
He is the first one to have received the first Yuva Srujan Puraskar award for Art and Culture from the Government of Goa for his immense contribution to Konkani theatre.[4]
