Personal life

Julio Cesar Martinez Aguilar was born 27 January 1995 in Mexico City and raised in its Tepito neighborhood.

Professional career

Martinez turned professional in 2015 and compiled a record of 14-1 before facing and defeating British Boxer Charlie Edwards by knockout to win the WBC Flyweight title. The result was however overturned to a no contest due to Martinez landing an illegal shot on Edwards while he was down. Charlie Edwards then vacated the WBC Flyweight title and Martinez was then matched against Cristofer Rosales for the belt. Martinez became champion after a technical knockout stoppage in the ninth round.[1]
