Karim Khalili

Karim Khalili (Persian: کریم خلیلی) is the current chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council,[1] who served as Vice President of Afghanistan from 2004 to 2014, in the administration of President Hamid Karzai.[2] Khalili was appointed first time as Vice President in 2002 and was elected as running mate of Hamid Karzai in 2004. Since 1989 he has been one of the main leaders of the Wahdat political party of Hazara.[3]

Early years

Khalili was born in Wardak Province at 1950. When he was 3 years old his family migrated to Kabul and return to their hometown after awhile. He attended a religious school till he got 18 and migrated to Kabul to continue his education at 1970. He had studied (maalimul usol, logic, philosophy and description of realism. He participated in the Afghanistan resistance during Soviet invasion. He also served as Minister of Finance of Afghanistan during the Mujahideen government in the early 1990s.
