History

Katahama Station opened on March 21, 1987,[1] the last train station to be built by the Japanese National Railways (JNR) before its privatization. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR Central.[1]

In fiscal 2017, the station was used by an average of 2452 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[2]
