Katarzyna Gardapkhadze - First Deputy Director of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODHIR) since 2016. In 2020, Gardapkhadze served as OSCE ODIHR's Alternate Director.[1]

Educated psychologist, she is also an expert in leadership, strategic management and organizational development. Katarzyna Gadapkhadze shared her professional experience and knowledge and contributed as expert to numerous international and national conferences across the OSCE region speaking on various aspects of human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination, rule of law and democracy.[2] She is also committed to responsible leadership and environment protection.[3]

Education

In 1994, she graduated with master's degree from the psychology studies at the University of Gdańsk. In 1999, she has completed non-degree studies from social sciences at the George Washington University.

Katarzyna Gardapkhadze is also a graduate of Stanford Leadership Academy for Development, and a trainer certified from the Institute for Leadership & Management.[4]

She is fluent in Polish (native), English and Russian languages.[5]

Professional career

Katarzyna has over 25 years of experience in public service, international non-profits and multilateral organizations mostly in Europe and North America, but also in South Caucasus and Central Asia.[6] Before joining the OSCE, she has served as director of Save the Children based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Prior to that, she worked for Eurasia Foundation’s South Caucasus media support programme, USAID-funded Georgia youth peace project, and United Nations Mission in Kosovo community strengthening work.[7] She has also managed initiatives which focused on human rights, minorities and inter-ethnic dialogue in Western Balkans (2000 – 2002).

She also has an experience in international election observation (OSCE Mission 2000).

In OSCE ODIHR she oversees Office's programmatic work[8] on elections, democratization, human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination,[9] and Roma and Sinti programs.

Awards

In 2019, Katarzyna Gardapkhadze received the Ambassador for Liberty and Peace International Award of Excellence in recognition of her leadership and dedication while working for ODIHR.[10]
