While playing with the Giants, Mitchell was a resident of Hoboken, New Jersey.[4] In Super Bowl 42, Mitchell had a total of 8 tackles with 1 sack.[5]

On February 29, 2008, the Buffalo Bills signed Mitchell to a five-year contract for US$17.5 million (equivalent to about $20.8M in 2019).
