Kensington B I, s part of ward 104 of the City of Johannesburg[2] represented by Counselor Mike Woods.[3]

The area forms part of the KenBrink Residents Association which represents the interests of residents living in the suburb.[4]

History

The majority of Randburg is built on four farms that were owned by Boer pioneers in the 1850's. The four original farms were called Klipfontein, Driefontein, Olievenhoutspoort and Boskop. Driefontein extended from current day Bryanston to current day Braamfontein and belonged to Mr J L Pretorius. When he died in 1886, the farm was divided into 9 portions and left to his 9 sons who later went on to sell their portions. One of these portions was sold to the widow of Mr Jacobus Brink of Pretoria. Their son, Daniel Brink, began farming on the portion of Driefontein in 1906. That portion was later sub-divided into the current day suburbs of Kensington B, Beverley Gardens, Bryan Brink, Daniel Brinkpark Osummit and Vandia Grove. The original farm house is currently owned by one of Daniel Brink's descendants and still has Randburg's first windmill which was erected in 1924 by Daniel Brink.
